Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about Warrior Shepherd Journey, membership, training, fathers’ participation, equipment, and registration.

1. What is Warrior Shepherd Journey?

Warrior Shepherd Journey is a hands-on training and character-development program designed to help boys and young men grow into capable, disciplined, and responsible men. Training is organized around four central pillars: Protector, Provider, Shepherd, and Servant.

Members develop practical skills through live instruction, guided practice, challenges, service, and time spent training alongside fathers and mentors.

2. Who is the program designed for?

The program is designed for boys and young men who are ready to develop practical skills, confidence, discipline, leadership, and strong character.

Progress is based more on ability, effort, maturity, and demonstrated competence than on a strict age requirement. Parents may contact us if they are uncertain whether the program is the right fit for their son.

3. Is there a minimum or maximum age?

Warrior Shepherd Journey does not use one rigid age requirement for every participant. Because the program includes many different types of training, readiness may vary by course.

Some activities are appropriate for younger boys, while others require greater maturity, physical ability, or responsibility. Course descriptions will identify any specific requirements.

4. Do fathers attend with their sons?

Yes. Fathers are encouraged to attend and train alongside their sons, and fathers can attend regular Warrior Shepherd Journey training with their participating sons at no additional membership cost.

The program is built around the belief that a father should remain one of his son’s most important teachers, mentors, and examples.

5. Can a boy participate if his father is unavailable?

Yes, absolutely! We understand that every family situation is different. A boy may still be able to participate with an approved parent, guardian, grandfather, family member, or mentor. Contact us before registering so we can help determine the most appropriate arrangement.

6. What types of skills are taught?

Training may include:

Personal protection and situational awareness

Firearms safety and proficiency

Emergency medical response

Hunting, tracking, fishing, and outdoor skills

Carpentry, mechanics, tools, and trades

Homesteading and preparedness

Physical fitness, hiking, and rucking

Leadership, service, manners, and responsibility

Biblical instruction, citizenship, and character development

Specific classes and activities vary throughout the year.

7. Does my son need previous experience?

No. Beginners are welcome.

Courses are designed to build skills progressively, beginning with safety, fundamentals, and responsible decision-making. Participants with prior experience may be evaluated and challenged at a level appropriate to their current ability.

8. Where does training take place?

Training is held at various approved locations depending on the subject. These may include training facilities, martial arts schools, shooting ranges, outdoor areas, workshops, and other partner locations throughout the greater Phoenix and Scottsdale area.

The exact address for each training will be provided in the course registration information.

9. How often are training events held?

Training is offered throughout the month according to the published Warrior Shepherd Journey schedule.

Because different subjects require different locations, instructors, and equipment, dates and times may vary. Members should regularly review the training schedule inside the Member Portal and register for the events they plan to attend.

10. What is included with membership?

Membership provides access to the Warrior Shepherd Journey program, eligible member training, the private Member Portal, program announcements, community discussions, training information, and member resources.

The specific benefits may vary based on the membership selected. Certain specialized courses, equipment, ammunition, travel, certifications, or outside-provider expenses may require an additional fee. Any additional cost will be clearly stated before registration.

11. What is the difference between an individual and family membership?

An individual membership covers one participating boy or young man and his attending father or approved mentor.

A family membership is intended for families enrolling more than one participating boy or young man. Review the Memberships page for the current options, billing terms, and included participants, but typically the family membership covers up to 3 boys or young men.

12. How do I register for training?

After joining, members receive access to the Warrior Shepherd Journey Member Portal.

Inside the portal, members can:

Open the training schedule.

Review available courses.

Read the course description and equipment requirements.

Select the appropriate registration link.

Complete registration for the chosen event.

Members should not assume that membership automatically reserves a place in every event. Registration may still be required because certain trainings have limited capacity.

13. Are firearms courses safe for beginners?

Yes. Safety is the first priority in every firearms-related course.

New participants begin with firearm safety, responsible handling, range procedures, and foundational skills. All participants must follow instructor commands and safety rules at all times.

Age, maturity, legal requirements, course prerequisites, and instructor approval may affect eligibility for certain firearms activities.

14. Is Warrior Shepherd Journey a drop-off program?

It certainly can be! We would love to see Fathers, parents, guardians, or approved mentors be involved as much as possible. But Warrior Shepherd Journey is about the boys and young men, primarily. The boys and young men that do attend alone will have great mentors and leaders to guide them.

15. Is Warrior Shepherd Journey an ESA vendor?

Warrior Shepherd Journey IS an approved Arizona ESA vendor, under Premier Martial Arts Scottsdale.

16. Can I cancel my membership?

Membership cancellation and billing terms depend on the membership option selected.

Members on an month to month membership may cancel with 30-day written notice. 6-month and Annual memberships are non-refundable, UNLESS member permanently moves more then 75 miles away.

For help with an existing membership, contact Warrior Shepherd Journey directly.
